The Hydro-Engineering Institute Sarajevo (HEIS) successfully hosted the 4th PREBIODUNES Steering Meeting and the 3rd PREBIODUNES Transnational Event, held on 23–24 April 2026 at Hotel Vapore in Neum, Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The event brought together project partners, experts, and stakeholders from Croatia, Italy, Greece, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, and Albania, contributing to the exchange of knowledge, progress updates, and strengthened international cooperation within the framework of the PREBIODUNES project.
4th Steering Meeting – 23 April 2026
The 4th Steering Meeting was held on 23 April 2026 (09:00–16:00) and focused on reviewing the progress of project implementation, ongoing activities, and upcoming tasks.
Project partners presented updates related to:
- WP1 – DETAILED ANALYSIS AND MAPPING OF PROJECT SITES AND ECOSYSTEMS (Task 1.3. Habitats Mapping and Task 1.4 Analysis of fruition impacts on habitats);
- WP2 – PILOT ACTION DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION (Task 2.1. Design of Pilots -Presentation of Pilot Designs by Candidates, Task 2.2. Monitoring Systems, Task 2.3. In situ collection of germplasm and Task 2.5. Communication Issues);
- Management related aspect and financial issues.
As part of the programme, participants also visited the PREBIODUNES pilot area “Druga Strana Beach” in Neum, providing an opportunity for direct field observation and discussion of planned pilot activities.
3rd Transnational Event – 24 April 2026
The 3rd PREBIODUNES Transnational Event, held on 24 April 2026 (09:00–16:00), focused on presenting complementary projects and institutions working on coastal resilience, environmental protection, and sustainable ecosystem management.
The following initiatives were presented:
- ClimBeach – Improving Coastal Areas Resilience to Climate Change Impacts – Sustainable Beach Stabilization and Management University of Split, Faculty of Civil Engineering, Architecture and Geodesy, Croatia
- CLIMAAX – CLIMAte risk and vulnerability Assessment framework and toolboX Municipality of Neum, Bosnia and Herzegovina
- MISSION4WATER – Multidisciplinary strategic partnership providing innovative solutions to reduce pollutants dispersion in water Hydro-Engineering Institute Sarajevo (HEIS), Bosnia and Herzegovina
- SAMSEA – Sustainable Management of marine sentinel species and human activities interaction CETEOR Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina
- BLUEQ – Applied Solutions for Monitoring Coastal Habitats and Quantifying Blue Carbon Storage: An Integrated Approach for Sustainable Ecosystem Management REIC Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina
- MARROBO – Fostering innovation capacities and skills for marine robotics deployment for monitoring and marine environment protection Municipality of Neum, Bosnia and Herzegovina
