Hydro Engineering Institute Sarajevo and Dorsch International Consultants GmbH (Munich/Germany), as the lead company in the partnership venture, jointly implemented the “Feasibility Study for Water Supply and Wastewater Disposal for Tuzla, Zenica and Travnik“ Project, financed by the KfW and SECO. The project was implemented in the period January – December 2012.
The specific objectives of the project can be summarized as follows:
The feasibility study that identified the investment measures to improve water supply programs and wastewater systems (stormwater) in the three municipalities. This increased the operational efficiency and financial sustainability of local water and sewer systems.
The Project implementation was structured in the three phases: I – Inception Phase, II – Programming Phase and III – Feasibility Study.
Phase I included: collection of basic data, water balance and NRW calculation, definition of design criteria and assessment of existing infrastructure operations.
Phase II included: hydraulic models and calculations, elaboration of technical solutions and study variants for the water supply and waste water schemes, cost estimates (investments, O&M), identification of Best Practical Options, preparation of investment measures and their presentation at the Workshop, signing of Memorandum of Understanding regarding the proposed measures and elaboration of the Draft Conceptual Engineering Report.
Phase III included: preparation of implementation schedules, development of short and mid-term sludge disposal strategies, development of risk estimate, preparation of financing of implementation of Phase I, development of tariff and tariff structures, development of (Rapid) Environmental Impact Assessment.
