IPA Med Green Partnerships

The Green Partnerships project – local partnerships for greener cities and regions, funded by the MED program from the IPA Fund, began in January 2013. It covered 9 EU Member States and has been expanded to include Mediterranean countries that are candidates or potential candidates for the EU membership. The project lasted for 2.5 years and was implemented in Bosnia and Herzegovina by the Hydro Engineering Institute Sarajevo.

The main objective of the project was to strengthen the implementation of local public policies and strategies related to energy efficiency for sustainable local and regional development of the MED cities and local communities by:

  • Developing a joint innovative approach including the development, promotion and testing of operational recommendations for overcoming the existing difficulties faced by local public authorities and,
  • Enhancing cooperation of stakeholders in implementation of the energy efficiency measures by creating local partnerships.
